I have moved house 8 times in the last 4 years, so when it comes to packing, moving and storing stuff, I know a thing or two. I was a complete novice when I started out but having hired some of the best moving and storage contractors in the country, I have learnt from the best. I hope you like my blog.

Two Situations in Which You Should Hire a Removals Company to Help You Move House

Hazel Bailey

Moving to a new home can be very expensive. Because of this, you may be tempted to carry out the moving process without the help of a removals company. However, there are certain situations in which this may not be a good idea. Read on to find out what these situations are.

You will be moving to a different state

If you are planning to move to a different state, it would be wise to use the services of a company that specialises in handling interstate removals, instead of transporting your belongings by yourself.

The reason for this is as follows; because you lack the experience, the moving equipment and the training that professional removalists have, it is very likely that you will make a mistake when loading your possessions into the back of your car or the rental van.

You may, for example, fail to securely strap down some of the boxes (which could lead them being flung around the back of the vehicle whilst it is in motion), or stack heavy boxes on top of lighter ones (which could lead to the lighter boxes and their contents being crushed).

If your new home were located just a short drive away from your current one, then it is entirely possible that these types of mistakes would not cause any lasting damage to your belongings.

However, the same cannot be said if you have to drive for hours and hours to a property in a different state, as the longer the journey to your new home, the more likely it is that your haphazardly packed belongings that have been stuffed into the back of your car or rented van will end up sustaining damage.

As such, in this situation, it would be best to hire an interstate removals company to handle the moving process on your behalf, as this approach is the one which is most likely to ensure that your possessions arrive at your new property in perfect condition.

You suffer from chronic back pain

If you suffer from chronic back pain, it is not a good idea to move house without professional assistance. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, attempting to lift heavy boxes could easily strain your back and thus exacerbate your existing back problems. Secondly, if you try to carry a particularly large box by yourself and your view of the upcoming path or hallway is obstructed by this box, you could end up tripping over an object on the ground and falling. This could not only worsen your back pain but also could result in the box's contents being damaged.

In short, carrying out a DIY house move when you have back problems is a recipe for disaster.
